Good value large room which was well stocked with beverages. The TV wouldn’t tune in which was frustrating and the bath though large was very uncomfortable. The food was pub grub and reasonably priced. Great location next to Wyre Forest with good walks for our dogs. Rather noisy late evening though it is a popular pub and our room was above the car park.

Fantastic hotel, welcoming and friendly staff. The food had a good variety and the cocktail menu was super, especially the espresso martini and the amereto sours. Rooms were clean and very nicely themed with different fruits which made each room unique in their own way. The different teas and biscuits in the room gave a lovely homely feel. Plenty of storage space for clothes etc. staff all very helpful upon arrival. Would recommend again. Will be back in future trips .

We broke a long journey by staying in this pub which is within walking distance of the Wyre Forest. There is a separate bar and restaurant which was quite quiet which was surprising as the food was very good although we did stay mid week. Our room was clean, a good size and contained a fridge (nice bonus). Our bathroom could have done with a little TLC but this did not detract from a pleasant stay.

The staff were very welcoming on arrival and I was able to request a bottle of sparkles in advance to be in the room for when we got there. We stayed in the Cherry room for 2 nights. The decor was fantastic and the red theme ran throughout the room. There was a decent amount of coffees and teas with a fridge in the room too. The cafetiere with coffee provided was a lovely touch. Highly recommend.

Lovely stay, very comfortable rooms. Clean and nicely decorated. We had 2 rooms my room was perfect, the family room was great, they provided a travel cot for the 11 month old. There was also a fridge; a nice surprise. Just one small moan, the door to the outside area was below their room and was allowed to bang, luckily it did not keep the children awake, was just a bit annoying. However would recommend this as a great place to stay. Food was amazing!

My wife and I stayed for one night as part of our wedding anniversary celebrations, arriving at Sunday lunchtime. We chose The Royal Forester because we enjoy our food and had eaten there before. The inn is cosy and inviting with friendly staff who clearly understand their jobs and try to make customers as welcome as possible. The lunch was delicious, very well cooked and presented and was served promptly. We sat in the bar during the afternoon, near the lovely wood-burning stove until we retired early to bed.Potential visitors should just be aware that there is no dinner service on a Sunday because it is quiz night. That wasn't a problem because we had eaten so very well at lunchtime. The bedroom waswarm and comfortable and we enjoyed a good night's sleep before coming down to an equally enjoyable breakfast the next morning. Definitely a 5-star place to visit.

Food in the restaurant was excellent. We were a bit shocked that the private party music on the Saturday evening that was very loud in our room lasted until 00:15 and we were only told about this private party as we were delivered to our room on the Friday .. other than this our stay was very nice thank you

In addition to top class restaurant the bar area, with woodburner is very relaxing with a great range of beers etc. Super location for the steam heritage Severn Valley Railway, Bewdley Safari Park, Severn Valley Country Park and Wyre Forest Park. Birmingham is less than an hour away by road or rail (latter from nearby Kidderminster).

The accommodation is in the countryside but well located to walk to the Wyre Forest. Rooms are fun and well equipped, with fruit and colour schemes. With 3 of us staying, we had two disappointments. 1. One of the rooms wasn't ready for check-in at 5pm. 2. One of the rooms had no functioning heating, so had to wait about 30 minutes for it to be checked and a fan heater brought to the room.Dinner and breakfast was very good.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly, which is always a good start. We had a superior room, which was a good size with a lovely big bed, a large TVand a good sized bathroom with both a bath and a shower; the shower was very nice and powerful. Added bonus was a fridge in the room which is a very rare find and one we very much appreciated. We had breakfast two mornings and it was lovely; freshly cooked and well presented.Overall, it met our needs and was a good price and a good location for our visit. The room needed a little TLC in places, (my hubby thought that the carpet was actually just underlay . ., the bottom of the bathroom door had obviously been affected by water from the shower/bath). when we first arrived there was a very strong smell of cooking, but we left the window open whilst we went out and the smell had gone by the time we got back and didn't return. It would have been nice to have at least one hand towel as well as bath towels. The towels were a good size, however, they were a bit grey and showing their age; but they did the job.Ideal for local attractions such as West Midlands Safari Park.

Very pleasant room - large comfortable bed, large TV, modern bathroom, all facilities needed, including plug sockets and Wi-Fi.Pleasant surroundings.Disappointed no evening meal on a Sunday - we should have read the 'small print', but helpful staff redirected us (and several other guests who had made same error), to a local restaurant. Breakfast - ample/well presented.Starting to reach the stage where some refurbishment generally is needed. External areas need some 'tidying up'.

It was easy to find and the staff were welcoming.I had a delicious dinner and dessert even if I did receive the wrong dessert (I’m not one to make a fuss) drinks and food were reasonably priced meaning I could have 3 drinks on my small work budget.I went for the superior room as again this was within budget and the bed was very comfortable and the bath was a great size. Not anything to mark the hotel on but I didn’t have access to ITV2 on the TV but wasn’t a big deal. Thanks guys was a brilliant stay and I would definitely use again

The room was great! Lots of space, large bed and good facilities. However, the breakfast option could have been better. We were expecting a cooked breakfast which we've tried before and enjoyed.Because it was Christmas morning, a cooked option was not offered, which was disappointing as the chef appeared to be on hand and we didn't feel it was that busy at breakfast but we even had to wait 20 mins for pastries. That said, we'll be back! We enjoyed our stay overall. Thanks,Rob

Wide long bath, drinks and snacks, big bed, TV, everything for a good overnight stay. I also ate there. The owner and hostess is charming and spent 1/2 hr with me talking as she got breakfast ready. The place is a compliment to her efforts; thank you. She definitely went the extra mile as they say.

This was our first visit to this location, but we were so impressed we have booked to return in 7 days time. The Standard Room my partner and me shared had everything you could possibly want, but we were asked each day if there was adequate supplies, or if a top-up was required. This negated the awkwardness of having to 'ask for more' !!All meals were freshly prepared and cooked to an excellent standard. And it was lovely to sit in front of a real log fire to enjoy a feast fit for Royalty!Thank you to management and all staff for making this a break to remember, and for all the right reasons !!

Stayed 10 nights over the festive period. Rooms are spacious, warm and very well priced. Food is excellent and also very reasonably priced, especially the breakfasts, best eggs Benedict I've ever had !! Staff all friendly and welcoming. Nice atmosphere all round. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

Food superb, staff helpful and friendly. Only one thing not very good was the bedroom carpet- it was stained and tatty, otherwise a really good stay and we would stay again.

The room was very nice and clean. The bed was clean with plenty of pillows and blankets and I had a good nights sleep. The bathroom was clean with plenty of towels but there was no soap in the soap dispenser so I had to use the shower gel from the shower. Breakfast was excellent and I enjoyed the cooked breakfast very much. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again when in the area.

I stayed at The Royal Foresters for two days because I was attending a local wedding.I was absolutely delighted to discover all the rooms are individually designed and colour matched to unusual fruits. I was in Blueberry! The attention to detail is excellent and the bed and bedding comfy and rather luxurious. Even the bath is deep and long, which is rare in a hotel.I enjoyed lazy soaks on both days of my stay! Set in the Wyre Forest, wood features extensively and very attractively in the bar and restaurant and reflects the Forestry name. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the food in the restaurant excellent and the menu varied.Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious too.I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and it added to my overall pleasure of attending a special wedding.Thank you everyone that I met. We were travelling quite a distance to attend a wedding and decided to make a weekend of it. We searched the area local to the West Midlands Safari Park and came across The Royal Forester. We were not disappointed. The history of the building is well worth a read, very interesting. We received a very warm welcome and shown our room, The Pumpkin room (there are 7 rooms, all named after local produce). We had booked a table in the restaurant for our first night, extensive and very reasonably priced menu, all locally sourced products. Both of our meals were superb. Breakfast was included both mornings and what a choice!! Again, just superb. To sum up, our two night stay could not have been any better. A beautiful, quirky, and very popular hotel and restaurant, we will definitely be doing a return visit.

I then met the landlady ( I think that is who she was ) she too was charming .The price was amazing and I can thoroughly recommend .

A warm welcome on arrival at a particularly busy Bank Holiday afternoon, immediately shown to my room and invited down to the bar when refreshed. My room, Blue Berry, was comprehensively equipped, plenty storage space and a very comfy bed.A fan was provided for the warm nights. The bathroom contained a huge bath, curved out at one end for the shower enclosure, plenty of fluffy towels and upmarket soaps and shampoos.I ate in both nights, the food was fresh, hot and very tasty as were the full English breakfasts and the help yourself breakfast bar.The Royal Forester totally deserves it's star rating and I recommend it to anyone thinking of staying near Bewdley.

Me and my partner stayed here on the bank holiday weekend as we were attending a wedding. We couldnt of asked for a better b&b!!We were given a very warm welcome and shown to our room, which was lovely and clean with a good supply of tea coffee and biscuits. We stayed in the aubergine room which was one of the bigger rooms and was perfect for us for the long weekend. My only complaint was the breakfast menu had so much yummy choices i couldnt decide on what to have each morning. Sadly we didnt get to try the evening menu but we will definitely be popping back at some point to try it out.The staff were all very polite and helpful and there is plenty of parking.Thank you for making our stay an enjoyable experience and we will definitely be back very soon.

Good location for enjoying the area and plenty of parking.

We stayed Fri 5th & Sat 6th August - after a fraught journey to reach you, we were calmly & efficiently booked in by Joe, he took our bags to our rooms, helped me up the stairs (I have mobility issues) and got us settled. We went back down to get a much-needed evening meal & it was just fine.It was cooked fresh, served hot & tasted great. While that was happening, Joe booked or cab for the following day to go to our family wedding.Everything went as planned - HURRAH!On our return on Saturday night, we went to our rooms fatigued but very happy.Sunday morning breakfast at a civilised time taken on the sunny patio was truly to be remembered - Thanks to all for a lovely weekend. We would certainly book again, and recommend you to others.

They have done a lot of work on this lovely little pub with rooms. Clean. Nice design of rooms and bathrooms great food, good service.Only negative was the room I was in had noise from an extractor fan which stopped when the kitchen did. (10pm) This wouldn't be a problem if you went to bed later than I did. Will happily stay again in a different room next time in the area.

I don’t normally leave reviews but I just had to comment on how much we enjoyed our stay at The Foresters. The room was spacious and a very comfortable bed and I loved the quirky decor. As for breakfast it was outstanding. Really great quality and cooked to perfection. The lady that looked after us was very friendly and easy going. I only wish we had longer as it was just a flying visit but should the opportunity come up for us to visit the area again, I know where to come. Thanks very much

We found this a very friendly, comfortable and welcoming place to stay overnight. The rooms were well apointed and and the breakfast menu was one of the best and most reasonably priced we've encountered over the years. For some people, however, it may be a nuisance to find themselves having to accept the noise from the busy road outside!

My daughter and I stayed en route from the Isle of Man. After a really warm welcome & being offered help with our bags, we were taken to our room. It was ideal: spacious, light & airy, really well appointed, spotlessly clean. Lovely full size toiletries, super comfy bed and the bonus of a fridge. Excellent evening menu (delicious & nicely presented). Our reservation included breakfast and the quality and choice was superb. I feel that our stay offered fantastic value and I would recommend the Royal Forester heartedly to anyone. Finally, a commendation to all of the staff: welcoming, friendly, courteous & relaxed. Thank you!

All we could have wanted for a nights stay. The room was very clean and comfortable, and our little dog was made truly welcome. Fantastic location for accessing the Wyre Forest, which along with being Dog Friendly was our reason for choosing it, and a great breakfast in the morning.....with an extra sausage for our dog.

It' hard to find somewhere to stay for a couple of nights that's not part of a chain, but that's exactly what the Royal Forester provides. With just 7 rooms it is a home from home. All the staff from the owner, who does the rooms herself, to the bar and restaurant staff are very friendly. The food is of an excellent standard and the breakfast menu is more extensive than many a larger hotel. I would recommend this Inn to anyone wanting to stay in this area.

Enjoyed our stay and would recommend The Royal forester to anybody.

Despite arriving late we were greeted warmly and shown to a lovely, bright, large room with a sumptuous wet room bathroom. The Inn has a very rustic feel, but with no detriment to its overall feel. Due to Jubilee weekend it was bustling, lovely feel. Breakfast was to die for, the granary toast was excellent and service great. Evening meal of fish and chips and bbq sausages was fantastic, but the Special Cider Co. cloudy cider was the best I have ever tasted, and could have drunk many a pint. It is a virtual certainty that we will be booking again, as the area is one we would like to visit for longer.

Although the pub is next to a busy road I did not notice the traffic. met up with some friends and had a meal during the evening and the food was good pub grub and the beer was good. Lovely place to stay, each room has a fruit or vegetable theme, we were in the pear room and the decor was geared to the colour. Bedding in greens and yellow, green glass sink and green bathmat. Lovely handwash, handcream, shampoo and conditioner. Lots of choice of teas and coffee and biscuits provided. Breakfast was great, again a lot of choice of breads, cereals, fruit juices and fresh fruit, plus a big choice of cooked breakfast, the blue berry pancakes were superb. We ate there twice in the evening and again the food was of very high quality with a decent choice. Could thoroughly recommend this place.

The hotel is opposite the Wyre forest so off we went to explore. We had a really delicious steak dinner in the bar area ( great for the dog), the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We’d booked in after spending the day at West Midlands safari park. The check in process was already completed online beforehand therefore we were able to go to our room straight away. The room was a big, clean and very well organised. The bed was comfy and the blackout blind meant the room was completely dark.We ate an evening meal and breakfast and both were delicious and served up after a little wait.Staff were friendly and attentive and we will definitely stay here again if we’re in the area😀

Lovely place, ideal for us, we will be back but.A bit cold in the evening, could have done with the heating on for a couple of hours. On the Sunday evening we read in the instructions in the bedroom that Sunday dinner was 12 - 7pm, we went down at 6.45 but were quickly told the kitchen had closed at 5.0pm and we could order a take away. But a takeaway didn't suit us at all. I had two packets of crisps and my partner managed with nothing. There were enty of bar staff around they surely could have made us a sandwich.

We ordered extra veg which was totally different to what we were told it would be.server just laughed. No marmalade at breakfast and cereal bowls not cleared when main came.

Fabulous large room with great en suite and very clean. Lovely food, simple but tasty. My only complaint is that the pub/ eating area needs a bit of TLC. Liked the atmosphere and style but you need to get a good cleaner! Dead flys, cobwebs, dust and sticky tables aren't doing you any favors! We enjoyed our stay though. :)

We live locally, however wanted to stay as wedding was only down the road in Rock (2 miles) and be with family. My Mom who lives in Wales had called ahead about arranging transport to/from wedding venue, as we knew that local taxi firms generally do not like to travel outside the town on a Saturday night, she was told that transport could be arranged. Also we knew that another family member had already called four local taxi companies to prebook their return journey after the wedding and were told they would have to ring and hope there would be availability. On arrival, a taxi was called with a 40-minute wait and we were given a card for Regency Taxi’s … one of the four my Brother-in-Law had previously tried! So we made the decision to make a double trip transporting ourselves and leave our car at the venue overnight.Fortunately we were lucky for the return journey to get another family member to drop us off on their way home after the reception.Bedrooms were comfortable and we slept well.Could have done with more white sugar in room, loads of brown which does not work in tea!Breakfast … good selection of fresh fruit, cereal, etc. However, some of us with dietary requirements asked for the house breakfast to be adapted slightly.Swapping out some items for others.Waitress was lovely and accommodating.Same couldn’t be said for the chef, we happened to be seated outside the kitchen and clearly heard our order being read out and someone say “Grrrr this is going to take sometime, you’ll have to apologise for the delay”!It took 45-minutes from our order being placed in total, we also saw two people who were seated 20-minutes before our food was served have theirs before us.The food was worth the wait, although the temperature of the beans were on the cool side.Might be worth having swinging door put on the kitchen of the staff want to vent about customers requirements.

Just spent 2 nights here.. Great value for money, a nice spacious room with a fridge, off road parking was a bonus but the bed let it down, not very comfy I'm afraid. The breakfast was spot on though, really tasty.

Fantastic sized room. Lots of towels, very comfortable bed, fridge in the room, lots of tea and coffee options. Breakfast was fantastic, so much choice and they catered completely for my 4 year old that ordered something that wasn’t even on the menu. The owner (I think) is so welcoming and recognised us from a stay a long time ago and made a big fuss of my son on his birthday, very appreciated. Really made us feel at home and we will 100% be staying again.

One night stay. Live music on Sunday afternoon followed by a well organised pub quiz. Great family atmosphere and dog friendly. The kitchen closes at 5 on Sundays, which I wish we had known about, but the hotel suggested we ordered a takeaway, which we did and we enjoyed it in the outside seating area under shelter of the canopy.Bedroom was well decorated, roomy and comfortable. Good TV and fridge.Breakfast was amazing; a real treat. Lots of variety and options for meat, meat-free and continental. Will definitely stay here again if we're in the area.

Accommodation was very good and the Sunday lunch and breakfast were excellent. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Our only issue was the guest in the room next to us who had the television on very loudly till 2.00 in the morning. Perhaps guests could be advised that if they want to watch television in the early hours of the morning they turn the sound down or preferably off so as not to disturb other guests.

My only bad point was that the bed was a little low for me with my dodgy knees. But with some improvisation i managed to get out of it without too much difficulty. The room and en suite were just lovely. Nice powerful shower, (but soap dispensers were empty), great selection of drinks and biscuits in room.Breakfast was lovely. I asked ‘how do you make your porridge?’ ‘However you like it’ was the reply. So lovely bowl of porridge made just how i like it followed by 2 banana pancakes with blueberries and pecans and 2 flat white coffees. All included in the reasonable room price.Attentive friendly staff too.

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of days and can only say one thing about the time there - it was excellent. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. We were late arriving due to a family emergency earlier in the day and the staff got us a meal despite our later than planned arrival and during the stay nothing was too much trouble for them. All the food we sampled was 1st class and locally sourced.Needless to say if we are in the area again and need somewhere to stay we will be back.

I stayed at the Royal Forester for two nights and found it very comfortable. The room was spacious and the bathroom was clean and everything worked well. I was on a three day golfing break and therefore very much appreciated the good quality shower and deep, spacious bath with plenty of hot water. I didn't eat in except for breakfast, which was tasty and (a hobby horse of mine) hot when it arrived and stayed hot because it was served on a hot plate; excellent! A small detail which could be improved, but first impressions are important, is the decor of the stair area that links the reception downstairs to the bedrooms upstairs; this area could be made a little less utilitarian.

This country inn successfully combines the old with the new, downstairs retains the feel of an old coaching inn but the bedrooms are themed and have been tastefully re-decorated with a modern feel. The lamb and pork dishes on the evening menu were delicious, well presented and exceeded our expectations, breakfast from the extensive menu was also very good.We were made to feel welcome by all the staff. Location is ideal for exploring the Wyre Forest.

We enjoyed our stay, the only problem we had was road traffic noise from the Cherry Room I had to wear ear plugs other than that we can’t complain. Staff were helpful and polite on our last morning we couldn’t have a shower as there wasn’t any water throughout the building and other premises near by, without asking Maxine took a nights cost off our bill, which we thought was a generous offer.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was fabulous-great range of options. One issue was that the website states breakfast is from 7 onward, though the lady on duty only arrived at 7 which meant the cooked breakfasts took a while, so as a result my daughter (who had to go to work) was quite stressed and had to rush her breakfast. I chose this B&B partly due to the breakfast timings shown, so it was disappointing that this happened. The rooms could have been a tad cleaner, though the bed was clean and comfortable.

A warm welcome as we came through the door and excellent customer service throughout! The staff were very accommodating and helped with our baby. Service and food at breakfast were brilliant. Quality and range of cooked items was perfect. The room was comfortable and had plenty of room for our pop up cot. The bed was comfy and the mini fridge really helped out. Lovely hot shower. One area of improvement was the rooms could do with a little sprucing up. Shower pole hanging off wall was worried about pulling it off. Flickering halogen main lights and some hanging out of units. Ceiling where past leak needed a touch of paint.

A lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff. The décor was pleasant and the rooms clean. I personally had trouble with the uncomfortable pillows but the bed itself was comfortable. A bin near the tea making area would of also been useful (one was provided in the bathroom)Food was great, I had one of the best sandwiches I've ever tasted made at the hotel, overall a good stay.

Wow! What a gorgeous hotel. We were shown to our room as soon as we arrived and were pleased to see how spacious and clean the room was. The bathroom facilities were excellent with a powerful shower. Sean gave us a lift down the river for some food and drinks, picking us up again later. Breakfast in the morning was stunning. Sean and Maxine could not do more to welcome us. We would definitely stay here again.

We only stayed here for one night but couldn't fault it.We stayed in the spotlessly clean aubergine room, unusualdecor but loved it. The evening meal and breakfast were delicious with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.Callum, a charming trainee, prepared the lovely banana pancakes for breakfast. We also chatted to some of the locals in the bar in the evening.A very friendly, welcomingplace to stay and we would recommend and return.

Comfortable rooms and nice location. Staff were friendly and helpful and facilities in room, including TV, were excellent. Breakfast was nice and bearing in mind we were a cycling group they met additional needs such as a packed breakfast rather than something at the table in their restaurant.Storage for bikes could have been a little more 'professionally' presented but was just about adequate.

A lovely 2 night break in North Worcestershire. We knew it was a true country inn as when we arrived the car park was full of 4x4's and gun dogs and several brace of pheasants were hanging on the garden fence. The owner, Sean, was busy serving in the bar but welcomed us warmly, showing us to our room (the pumpkin room) which was comfortable with a huge bed. Two minor points were the musical plumbing and dim bedside lights. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice. We had dinner on one night, fixed price menu with good choice changed daily and good value.A good base for touring the area, lovely countryside.Well done and thank you!

First stay, a great experience. The room is comfortable and includes everything needed. The food at breakfast and at dinner was interesting and delicious, good variety. The duck at dinner is fabulous. Quality of drinks and wines also impressive. Most important of all is the attitude of the team in any pub, restaurant or inn. Everyone was very gracious and welcoming, worked well as a team. Would I recommend to stay, eat or drink here? Absolutely. Will return. You should try it too.

When things do not get off on the right foot, for whatever reason, it can be justifiable cause for upset or aggravation, also potentially exagerrating any other small issues. This happened tous. The various young staff are delightful, but the operation centres on the owner Sean, who once he was aware of the issues we had, went out of his way to make amend, which he did excellently, with a smile. As a result our stay was a happy and successful one. The restaurant offers good food, with both an A La Carte and different daily Table D'Hote. Good and varied breakfast, cooked to order. Would we go back again? Yes

Our stay at The Royal Forester was very much as the website led us to expect although the room was smaller than the wide angle photos suggested. Everything was clean and tidy and in excellent condition. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom perfect with lashings of hot water. We had some problems with the TV but this really didn't matter. If we had one criticism it was the late start for breakfast at the weekends. As early risers (usually 6.30 to 7am), it was a long wait for breakfast to start at 9am. The breakfast itself was delicious. Staff helpful and friendly, atmosphere good and despite the rooms over the public bar, very quiet and peaceful. We would thoroughly recommend The Royal Forester.

Very pleasant welcome, shown to room which was very clean and spacious (stayed in the cherry room). Was a lack of biscuits for 2 (only 1 and I wasn't sharing). Relaxed atmosphere in the pub downstairs of which the food was good. The shower was powerful but seemed to flood the bathroom so had to use the majority of towels to mop up. Breakfast was really tasty (initially told there were no sausages as they had forgotten to defrost). My only complaints were the breakfast took a really long time to appear once ordered and the noise from the traffic early in the morning was a bit of a shock wake up call. All in all staff were pleasant as was the room.

The staff, which were predominantly younger people, were very friendly, helpfuland gave excellent customer service. Sean, the owner, was usually on hand to overseee and was hands on in the bar and kitchen. Rooms were always clean and generally well maintained with quirky colour schemes. Meals were plentiful and the quality was very high, with a daily change on the a la carte menu to keep it fresh. No complaints at all and felt it was a lovely place to have stayed for or short break.

This is our second stay here and it won't be our last. Every room is individually decorated and this time we stayed in the Pumpkin room which had an amazing walk-in shower. The food is excellent and home-cooked. The only disappointment was although in their book it had kippers and salmon on the breakfast menu but when we went down for breakfast we were given another menu which didn't supply these. This meant I had to have a full English, which was excellent although not what I really wanted.

A very pleasant night's stay in a well-fitted room with large comfortable bed, and an excellent dinner - the grey mullet was just superb. The staff were friendly and helpful, the whole experience enhanced by the modest charges.A small point (an observation rather than criticism): our room was unusual in that the only window was a semi-skylight, giving a slightly claustrophobic impression and which might be inadvisable to open if raining. However, given it's an old building I suppose it's all part of the ambience!Thank you again for a most pleasant stay, I would award 4 1/2 stars if it could be done.

My wife and I stayed here on our wedding night and were impressed with how comfortable and tastefully decorated the room was. Some of our guests stayed at the hotel with us and all of the rooms are uniquely decorated with their own colour theme and the guests were very pleased with them.We were also impressed with the service we received. I had not had a chance to check us in in the morning, but we sent word to the hotel that we would be getting back a little after midnight and they ensured that someone was there to greet us and lead us to our room. The breakfast was of very good quality & tasty and on another occasion we had the carve your own beef joint on a Sunday and it was the best beef we have ever had with all of the trimmings.Overall, we were very pleased with the whole experience and plan on revisiting the Royal Forester on our anniversary next year.

We close the Royal Forester To celebrate my wifes both birthday and we were not dissappointed. The staff are all helpful and always have a kind word to say and are constantly attentive. The rooms are bright and cheerful and decorated to a high level with all the facilities you would need.It is also well positioned for all that the Severn Valley has to offer. We spent a full day exploring the Severn Vally Railway from Bewdley to Northbridge with the added bonus of a touring visit from the Orient Express on a run up from it's London base which gave is a unique opportunity to see the Pullman coaches and the Golden Arrow that pulled them.It was a weekend to remember! We are locals living 10 minutes away, but needed a short break. We were not disappointed! Terrific service, excellent room (Cherry) with a fantastic bed, excellent food, all in a relaxed atmosphere with none of the 'over-the-top-ness' found in many places. What is especially appealing is the fact that it is a family concern and not part of some unforgiving conglomorate. We heartily recommend Sean and Maxine's Royal Forester. We'll be back!!

Having just spent a wonderful evening here I can with great pleasure say The Royal Forester is an excellent country inn. The room was impeccably clean and simply, yet very stylishly decorated to fit a colour related theme. The bathroom was very impressive with a large bath and very pleasant shower. The bed was very comfortable ; my girlfriend and I had an excellent nights sleep after a great dinner at the restaurant. The food is excellent here and I would implore guests to try eating here. The food was delicious, presented well and perfectly cooked. The wine list was very impressive, with items to suit all tastes. Additionally, I found the whole experience to be good value. The room for the night (including breakfast) was £86. Excellent value for a charming country hotel, with a unique style and outstanding food. I would not hesitate to recommend.

The Royal Forester; what lovely little place to stay. Stayed in January when we had all the rain. So would love to come back here during nicer weather so that we can take in some walking. The rooms are great, really warm, clean and modern. Breakfast is freshly made will fill you up for the rest of the day!! We didn't dine in the restaurant but the choice on offer looked amazing and perhaps we will sample this when we stay again.Would definitely recommend for a peaceful relaxing few days away.

Just stayed at the Royal Forester for the weekend had an excellent time.Rooms really comfortable and the staff were brilliant.Ate in the restaurant both nights where thefood was superb quality and was accompanied by a varied and imaginative wine list. Highlight was listening to one of the locals doing a bit of taff bashing as the England v France game was on in the bar (I am from West Wales and the ref was Welsh - Nigel Owens) only for his face to turn sour as the French scored a last gasp try to win!!!Highly recommend staying here.

We were made to feel welcome from the moment we stepped in the door until we left. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Food was lovely, ate in the restaurant on both nites, filling our boots with beautiful food. Fully recommend dinning in the restaurant. Gave 4/5 overall, what would have made it a 5/5 would be hash browns and beans with breakfast :) Thanks for a lovely stay

I had not been in the Royal Forrester for some 15 years or so, it was always a lovely country pub then but the transformation since having a make over is unbelievable.Booked through KGB an online company so that I could visit family and friends in Bewdley and Sutton Coldfield. If you want a relaxing place to stay this is the place to come, did not eat evenig meal there but it must be good as there were a lot of diners when we returned in late evening, can vouch for the breakfast though it was sumptious. The staff were also very obliging and the Hungarian girl who served out table was great (hope you do well in your exams when you go back next week). Thanks for the hospitality, hope to see you again on a visit from West Wales.Jane and Geoff

My boyfriend and I stayed here last weekend as part of a kgb deal (2 night stay and safari park day trip). We had the pumpkin room..The rooms where very comfortable and we especially liked the wet room instead of the usual shower/bath! The rooms being a different fruit/vegetable we thought was cool! Our breakfasts and dinners were superb, could not fault the food (the scallop starter was delicious) and we had friendly service. The only complaint I have is that we had to wait longer than we'd liked to go to the safari park as they had ran out of tickets.. other than that, we had a lovely weekend :)

Booked this short break out of the blue - Arrived to a very warm welcome from Jack who showed us to our room.Very nice comfortable room with the nice touch of being named after fruit rather than being numbered (colour of the fruit being the theme of the room).Dined in the restaurant on our first evening and was so impressed with the meal and service that we repeated the experience on our second night.Nice breakfasts.Very obvious that the business was very "hands on" run. Will definitely be returning.(even without any kgb deal!!).

Our first impression of The Royal Forrester as we pulled into the car park was 'This looks good!' On entering the reception/bar area we were even more impressed especially when we were warmly greeted by Sean (owner)who showed us to a beautiful modern room with a top quality en suite bathroom. All the rooms are named after fruits and colour coordinated accordingly.A great deal of thought, care and attention has gone into the decor and furnishings. Lovely crisp white bedding and ample supply of fluffy towels. The restaurant has been expertly and tastefully designed to create a relaxing, comfortable place to enjoy the most amazing food which was of the highest standard. Menus were interesting and inviting, offering delicious, well presented fresh dishes. We ate on both nights of our stay and were delighted with everything we were served.Well done to the very talented chefs! All the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.Breakfasts were served in the bar area, and again there was a very good choice of cereals jams, nuts etc and cooked dishes. It was at breakfast that we met Maxine(owner)who makes the best porridge I have ever eaten! She is a lovely lady and perfect hostess. We were given lots of information on places to visit which was very helpful. We sincerely hope to return to this lovely establishment and thank Maxine,Sean and all the staff for a very enjoyable and memorable stay. Good luck to you all in the future

I wouldn't hesitate to reccommend the hotel as a place to stay, and with West Midlands Safari Park just down the road it is ideal for a family break.

We had 2 nights for £99 with 2 safari tickets, the wm safari park was enjoyable but not as good as Longleat. Our room was the Pumpkin and was spacious and well furnished, the bathroom was modern with a wet room shower with slate tiling, the only drawback was the roof window and the passing traffic at night meant we had to keep the window shut. The breakfast was excellent, overall we enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to others.

We stayed at the Royal Forester one Saturday night in February 2013. The bar/restaurant area is very attractiv, with subdued lighting and furniture and fittings of reclaimed wood. We were made to feel welcome on arrival and were pleased with our room which was modern and comfortable, with a well-equipped bathroom and adjustable heating. We ate in the restaurant, which was full. Some time after we had placed our order the manager came over and apologised profusely that our order had been misplaced. As a result we suffered a long delay but the food we ate was superb and well-presented. The manager offered us a free drink to apologise and (unprompted) we received a significant reduction when we came to settle the bill. It is a measure of the quality of service at the Royal Forester, first, that the chef and kitchen staff maintained the very high standard of food when under pressure, second, that the manageridentified the oversight, accepted full responsibility with genuine concern and acknowledged the service failure appropriately. Breakfast the next morning was excellent, the d-i-y muesli selection being a very clever idea.

From the outset the staff at the Royal Forester made us very welcome, we were greeted with a warm smile and shown to our room (all the rooms are boutique style named after a fruit and the colour schemes reflect that of the fruit), our room was called pear, it was fairly spacious, nicely decorated and furnished in a modern style, the bed was large and comfortable, there was a small single window in the main room, the lights were dimmable - a nice touch, the bathroom had a velux style roof window, it had a shower over a bath, the walls were tiled in slate, the bathroom fittings were like the room, modern. Both the room and bathroom were immaculately clean. What really makes an impression is the friendly atmosphere, this clearly reflects the management's approach - hands on, hard working, friendly and enthusiastic. The food was excellent, we chose from both the a la carte and specials menus, the service was good, but not rushed, the portions were perfectly adequate, maybe not the biggest but after starters and mains, we couldn't manage a pudding each so we opted for a small cheese board between us, (large one also available), but the quality of the food really was excellent. We felt that the food was comparably priced to other restaurants we have eaten in, not the cheapest, nor most expensive, for the quality of the food provided, actually very reasonable.Breakfast the following day, again was top quality, a choice of cereals, pastries, fruit, and of course, a full english breakfast, or choice of different eggs on toast (made with lovely thick bread), kippers, or a smoked salmon bagel.Overall we'd recommend both the restaurant and the accommodation, the staff and management worked really hard to ensure that we enjoyed our stay, we want to go back as soon as we can!

We booked this hotel as it was my husbands 30th birthday and we had a fantastic time the rooms were very well decorated and the bathroom and bath were excellently done. The food was superb we had breakfast lunch and dinner and all was delicious. The staff and owners were very firmly and helpful and the location of this hotel means you have some lovely scenery and things nearby to do. We would definitely stay again!

We had one night's stay here breaking our journey from Devon to the northwest. Our room was comfortable and tastefully styled.Food restaurant quality and restaurant price, couldn't fault it.Only thing we really didn't like was the football being shown in the "bar" which is actually more like a restaurant.Apart from that, couldn't fault the place - very comfortable.

We have been visiting the restaurant at The Royal Forester for a number of years but this was the first time we had stayed there and we were so impressed. The rooms and bathrooms were superb. The service we received was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. The food was of a very high standard as usual. Thanks to Shaun and his team for making our stay so pleasurable. We will definately be back soon.

My husband and I both enjoyed a great stay atthe Royal Forester. From the moment wearrived we were made to feel welcome. The room was comfy and well appointed, with all mod cons, and an auberguine theme, nicely interpreted. The breakfast was extremely good, with both fruit, cereal, and a choice of full cooked, locally sourced ingredients, as well. Having left my telephone charger inthe room, I was delighted to receive it back, by post, two days later.Altogether a very good experience and highly recommended.

Our whole experience staying at this hotel was excellent. We spent the evening of our wedding day here and it really was the perfect end. The room was large, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very generous, freshly prepared and delicious! Our family joined us for breakfast as non-guests and they were happily accommodated. Staff were very pleasant and helped in what ever way they could. Thankyou so much!!!

Booked an overnight stay to be close to Wyre Forest as we are keen cyclists. Staff were very welcoming & friendly & we felt relaxed. Hotel style is a lovely mixture of old & modern & the themed rooms are well thought out & very comfortable. Food was good, would stay again & recommend to friends.

As a regular business traveller it is easy to find yourself chain hotels in rooms around the world that all look the same. The individuality and attention to detail in the décor in the public areas and bedrooms at the Royal Forrester was refreshing and a welcome difference. Great service ethos and wonderful food in the restaurant, and that is a high accolade as I live in the South West of France where they consider the cuisine to be the best in the whole of France
